Day 1: Arrive in Luang Prabang
Upon arriving in Luang Prabang, meet our guide and transfer to your hotel. Embark on a half-day tour of this beautiful World Heritage town. Nestled in a stunning setting amidst lush mountains, this sacred city with its golden temples and saffron-robed monks offers endless opportunities for exploration. Visit several Wats (temples) and other fascinating sites. Spend the afternoon at your own leisure, immersing yourself in the relaxed pace of laid-back Laotian life.
Day 2: Luang Prabang
Cruise along the Mekong River to explore the renowned and sacred Pak Ou Caves. Since the 16th century, local people have been placing thousands of Buddha images in these caves. Immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Ban Xang Khong, a village known for the traditional weaving of Lao textiles on ancient wooden looms.
Day 3: Kuang Si Waterfall
For an early cultural experience, partake in the traditional Lao rite of giving alms to the monks. Witness some 300 monks silently collecting offerings as they file through the city each morning. After breakfast, embark on a journey to the breathtaking Kuang Si Waterfall. The falls cascade over calcified tiers, creating turquoise pools that stretch several hundred feet. Day 4: Luang Prabang to Xieng Khouang

Day 5: Xieng Khouang – Plain of Jars
After breakfast, your guide will lead you to the enigmatic Plain of Jars, one of Laos’ more mysterious sites. Explore the Old Town, visit the stupa and temple at Muang Khoun, and savor lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel.
Day 6: Xieng Khouang – Vang Vieng
Embark on a six-hour drive along picturesque winding roads to Vang Vieng, where stunning vistas of towering limestone karst hills await at every turn. Enjoy lunch along the way. The afternoon is yours to relax on the scenic banks of the Song River or explore the charming town.
Day 7: Vang Vieng
Savor the scenic wonders of Vang Vieng at your leisure. Options include inner-tubing in the cool, lazy river, trying your hand at kayaking or caving, or simply relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking views from your balcony.
Day 8: Drive to Vientiane
Embark on a three-hour drive to Vientiane. Explore Wat Sisaket, adorned with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and discover other picturesque sites and monuments. Enjoy a delightful lunch as part of your visit to this charming city.
Day 9: Vientiane to Pakse
Following an early breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Pakse. Begin your adventure with an easy four-hour hike up to the Bolaven Plateau, passing through a local village, coffee plantations, a hanging bridge, and onto the plains. Encounter huge boulders, pine trees, epiphytes, and wild orchids along the way. Return to the hotel for lunch, and enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore Pakse.
Day 10: Pakse to 4000 Islands
Embark on a southern drive to the renowned Khmer Temple complex of Wat Phou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site marking the easternmost border of the Khmer empire. Explore the Elephant Camp, witnessing how handlers (‘mahouts’) train these gentle giants. Enjoy a ride atop one of these friendly pachyderms to reach the top of Phou Asa and discover its mysterious ruins. After lunch, proceed to 4000 Islands by van and boat.
Day 11: 4000 Islands
Explore this enchanting section of the Mekong River in southern Laos, home to thousands of tiny islands. Cruise through this tropical paradise to reach the largest waterfalls in Asia, Khone Phapeng & Li Phi Falls. With luck, you might encounter some of the 50-100 Irrawaddy (freshwater) dolphins that call 4000 Islands their home. Spend the afternoon at leisure, either relaxing or exploring one of the islands on your own.
Day 12: Return to Pakse
After breakfast, drive north to Pakse airport for your flight.
